"Bitch ran out of ammo"
Today after speaking to a friend I was completely disgusted by what he or she told me. You see this person that someone framed for tracing goes to my school. I have seen them draw pictures WITHOUT TRACING INCLUDING THIS ONE.

First of all I don’t know who any of you are thinking you have the right to morally destroy another artist. For you, to sit there and post hateful comments about another artist makes you all despicable. How would you know if she traced it if you lined it up with the picture? Can you not wrap your mind around the fact that some people have the artist skill to draw so well?

You can say the same things about half the artists on this site: if you go by your standards. I draw portraits, and they tend to look almost perfect as the subject. Now if you took the picture of subjects and aligned it with my drawing or painting, they would line up… DUH. THAT’S THE POINT.

Of course your next thing is, I draw from life, or I took the picture. Well half the people on here draw from magazines or cd covers and I don’t see you putting them down. No, you are focusing on one person and wasting your time.

You accused an art student that has taken classes at Huntington School of Arts among others of terrible things, that I do not doubt some of you have done yourselves. They STOPPED drawing being you all had the nerve to discourage someone. You told them to kill themselves because YOU think they traced? So how many people have killed themselves after you attacked them?

Does making fun of someone make you feel better? Do you find it reassuring to put someone down because you might think a certain way? Reality is, this is an Internet website, you do not know who is faking and who is not. And what gives you the right to be the judge of that? What gives you the power to be nasty and FOLLOW what another person says?

To be honest I feel sorry for you, all of you. I feel sorry you all wasted your time to be nasty to an individual you do not even know. To waste your time just to prove that someone traced, when really you look like the coward. To sit here and keep doing it a year later even when it was proved she didn’t trace. That’s because you guys are not listening. The fact that there are more of you does not mean that you are right or that you went by this the right way.

“Haha you traced, let me be mean to you now” – What makes that right? There is a difference in doing what is right and what is easy. You all picked the easy way out… what does that say about you?

Basically it’s none of your business. If someone traces, leave them be. Don’t go spamming them and treating them like dirt.

Go ahead call me a white knight, call me names and make fun of me, It doesn’t matter and I don’t care. Just because there might be more of you does not mean you are right. "yeah I am right I can prove it!" --- everyone bow down to you and your abilities to be evil to another artist!!! Yeah!!

I am not going run away because you are attack me. You have no idea who I am where I have been and where I am going. I will tell you one thing: being an artist is about respect. Everyone has some kind of artistic talent and NO ONE has the right to put that down. If someone traces, don't be the knight in shinning armor. Seriously go find something else to do. What will you accomplish? Hurting someone so they stop drawing? Oh wait, you already did that.

For the record. He or she never said they traced, they said they drew from the picture and changed things. Which... That’s how some artists start out before they find their way. Why Don't you encourage he or she to be more original? Oh wait, that’s because you rather hurt them till he or she stops drawing altogether. Go ahead pat yourselves on the back.

They block the comments so you attack them even more. So who is really wrong here? Me who has seen this person draw or you who has never met them in their life and decided to spend time calling them a lier and cheat. Wow someone weight that one out.

"Basically it’s none of your business. If someone traces, leave them be. Don’t go spamming them and treating them like dirt."
"If someone traces, don't be the knight in shinning armor."

So we should give them asspats and let them be on their way? Tracing, or even drawing something without giving the reference( WHEN WE KNOW IT'S NOT ORIGINAL), then calling it your own is STEALING. Oh big effing whoop, you "changed" parts of it. You know what? It's still drawn from an original, and that original needs to be credited.

"being an artist is about respect."

Maybe the original artist should be respected. If you trace a goddamn piece of art, you can cheat and say you had a reference. They didn't even have the brains for that. If you can't do it wrong the right way, don't even bother.
Face it honey, karma will come back and get you. You can't cheat and say you slaved over something that wasn't even yours. That original artists didn't work their ass off just so they could have some copycat drift behind them.
You can go ahead and cry, and call me a big meanie, say I have no life and waste my time insulting people, but I really don't care. I don't trace, and try to do original work, and if it's not, I credit it. Simple. As. That. I spent a total of 4 minutes typing this, so I hardly sat here slaving over this for the whole day. And I don't insult random people. I work along others to shut down tracers and people who don't credit. If you can't do your own art, or even say thanks to those who help you, then you don't deserve to be an "artist".

Not a trace, eh? [link]
Sure could have fooled me.

Oh, and by the way-
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW

You either need to get your head out of your arse and see the truth, or get an award for being an epic troll...I don't know yet.

Look I am not going to sit here and say she should not have called it her own. But you have even said yourself that there is a difference from tracing and copying. Copying shows the ability to draw where as tracing is basically masking a lost skill, unless used to help develop a sketch to a masterpiece in your own work (which I am sure you know). And to keep going after she admitted that yes, she used another's idea is childish. Okay, you drove her away... why continue to make an example? For what you, or some site that you might find amusing. I don't find hurting people amusing, even if I am the victim, in any relevant situation.

I am not calling you a big meanie… and I am not sitting here crying so save your breath. But to say you don’t insult people?

“You either need to get your head out of your arse and see the truth, or get an award for being an epic troll...I don't know yet.”

Listen, I respect you for your opinion and I respect that you try to get respect for other artist. We need more people that take incentive and say something. I personally would blow up if I thought someone copied my work. I don’t know anything about you, but you also do not know anything about me. I am not stupid and followed the link before you had time to post it. Just because you overlay something on the Internet, does not mean that I have not seen her draw that and others without tracing. I can draw that and will look exactly the same and you can call me a tracer if you want, but that doesn’t make you right. You copying the link doesn’t convince me. Should I take a picture of her drawing just to prove my point? I would love but school just let out… Wish I thought of her sooner.

For the record… you sit there making fun of the persons age… but she was that age. Do you expect every individual to act 25? You can’t expect everyone to have the proper answer and not be defensive. It’s not like you guys told her to credit her work… you accused her of tracing off the bat. You didn’t even encourage her to cite… you just attacked her. So instead of teaching someone the proper way… which you are all right about, you took a spear to her work. The way you went about it was terrible, and I don’t know how you can expect anyone not to be defensive in that situation.

Obviously you don’t respect my opinion, and that’s okay. By calling me a troll you are not scaring me off or making me “see the truth” because no one here can really know the truth unless you know the person. Embarrassing and harassing someone because they copied doesn’t make you any better. Blacklisting is one thing. This crossed the line.

I know I *probably* shouldn't get involved in this but eh, some stuff needs to be cleared up.
A) I'm in agreement with you about "giving proper reference and credit where reference & credit is due to the original artist", that sucks donkey balls that she traced and didn't provide credit. Now what I'm not in agreement with is...

B) This statement right here: "Tracing, or even drawing something without giving the reference". Yes, all artists use reference, not most trace(except in animation that's hand drawn to get the character right and believe me that WRECKS your hands.) but most artists (professional or otherwise) do not give a link to what ref they used. I'm not gonna go and create a $200 commission for a game company and in the art book of said game have a link in the back to references. If you don't believe me on this check out any of the D'Artiste or Expose books, or the recent Terminator: Salvation art book.

Most artists here even such as the guy who did this: [link] probably used a female stock reference for that picture to get it right, as most artists do. So next time, think about what actual artists do and do not do before arguing and back it up with some facts.

By the by and off-topic, that's soem nice art you have there in your deviantart page. Also if your looking about for inspiration then you may happen to get some ideas from my mate :iconfunkykitchen: he has some ink work similar to yours.
Even though they may do that, doesn't mean it's right. And there is by far, a difference between someone who actually sells art and art related merchandise, to someone who so blatantly copies/traces/etc, and don't do a very good job in the first place. And to sue something that is so popular and well know, someone will notice and you're just asking for trouble. It's a mix of knowing right and wrong...and just plain common sense.

Oh I'll agree with you on the fact that tracing is goram wrong and selling a traced piece even more so(picked up a marvel or DC comic lately ;)?).

Ya it is really jsut common sense not to trace as it doesn't solve anything. Although, I can understand if your say, eyeballing andrew loomis' anatomy drawings to practice. That I think is the only time it's justifiable(to eyeball at least).
